The Movement Tracking System (MTS) concept was
created by Mobile Datacom Corporation in the 1995-1996
timeframe to demonstrate the application of satellite-based
geolocation and two-way communication to the problem
of logistics tracking for the United States Army.
This pioneering effort led directly to the award of
an eight-year, $418 million IDIQ contract with U.S. Army CASCOM in 1999.
